Centre for Regional Education Locations
Curtin's Centre for Regional Education delivers a number of educational programs, including enabling and bridging courses (UniReady Program), undergraduate degree programs, postgraduate courses and higher degrees by research at its regional centres.
Albany is the largest regional city in Western Australia, situated on the southern coast about 408km south of Perth. Historical for its pre-1950s whaling industry, its main industries today are fishing, tourism and agriculture. A large wind farm just outside the town provides 75% of Albany's electricity.
The Albany Centre for Regional Education is located in the historic Old Post Office building, a short walk from the town centre and close to cafes and shops. The building has been meticulously restored and refurbished, providing excellent facilities for classes, group and private study and after-class socialising. All students have use of modern, well-equipped computer laboratories with after-hours access.
The suburb of Armadale is situated 30 minutes south-east of Perth. With a modern centre nestled amongst scenic parks, Armadale is one of the top five growth regions in the Perth area.
The Armadale Centre for Regional Education operates out of the Swan TAFE building.
Esperance, on the south coast of Western Australia, is a popular tourist destination for its clean, white beaches and national parks surrounding the town. It's the regional centre for the south-east of the state, with an active port facility. The area offers some of the best scuba diving, swimming and fishing in the country.
We operate a Centre for Regional Education in Esperance as well as a Vocational Training and Education Centre, which runs TAFE courses.
Situated on the heart of the Batavia Coast, Geraldton offers a near-perfect lifestyle year-round. Offering a temperate climate, range of entertainment, shopping, fishing and some world-accredited sporting facilities, Geraldton is the regional city of the Mid West Region of Western Australia.
Curtin, one of the three participating universities of the Geraldton University Campus, deliver university level courses to people in the Mid West of Western Australia through the Centre for Regional Education.
The Kalgoorlie Campus is located adjacent to the CBD. Co-located on the one campus are the Centre for Regional Education (CRE), Western Australian School of Mines (WASM), Centre for the Management of Arid Environments (CMAE), Curtin's Vocational and Education Training Centre (VTEC) and the Senior Campus of the Eastern Goldfields Senior High School (EGSHS).
Sitting atop some of Australia's most resource-rich soil, Karratha is an important centre of mining for the country and indeed the world. On the north-west coast of Western Australia, its main industries are iron ore and manganese export, salt production and natural gas processing.
Karratha means 'good country' in the local Aboriginal language. Close by the town are tranquil rock pools and beautiful picnic spots. Just offshore are the islands of the Dampier Archipelago, with impressive fishing and snorkelling spots.
The Karratha Centre for Regional Education offers courses in the fields of education, arts, nursing and science, as well as an enabling program for regional students. The majority of classes are held at the Pilbara TAFE Karratha campus.
Curtin's Centre for Regional Education programs in Margaret River are currently delivered from the Margaret River Education Campus.
The suburb of Midland, about 30 minutes drive from central Perth, is close to the Swan Valley - a well-known grape growing region with a host of wineries, restaurants and art galleries. It was originally established as a service centre for the railway running to townships further east and contains the historically important Midland Railway Workshops.
The Midland Centre for Regional Education offers courses in art and education as well as an enabling program for regional students.
Port Hedland is located on the north-west coast of Western Australia servicing the booming mining industry. Set close to the serene white-sand beaches of the Pilbara coast, Port Hedland is a very relaxing town. Close by are beautiful inland creeks and an abundance of native plants and animals. With many tourist sites, restaurants and cafes, Port Hedland and its satellite suburb South Hedland are vibrant places to be.
The majority of Port Hedland's classes are held at the Pilbara TAFE, South Hedland campus.
